Meet Deborah Altemus, M.D.

Deborah Altemus, M.D. first studied medicine at Midwestern University in Chicago, Ill (1978-1982), with a focus on holistic health care.

While there, she accepted an Armed Forces scholarship that ultimately led to a 20-year career in the U.S. Army Medical Corps.

After practicing general and emergency medicine for 10 years in Germany, Washington, D.C. and San Francisco, Dr. Altemus began dermatology training at Brooke Medical Center in San Antonio Texas in 1990.

She later served at Madigan Army Hospital, and finally as the Chief of Dermatology at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, HI.

Since leaving the military, she has practiced in various, private and academic settings.

Dr. Altemus currently holds an appointment on the clinical teaching faculty at UCSF Medical Center and provides care to the under-served at San Mateo County Hospital one day per week.
